Lol I watch a lot of football (soccer) and Italian players always make that hand motion, or they put their hands together as if praying and start shaking it (obviously pleading to the ref etc.), they really do know their hand language.

Meh, I went there on part of my road trip around western Europe 2009 - I found it was nice... but........ awkward. I dunno... I wouldn't choose to go back there. My mother spoke fondly of it when she went there 30-40 years ago. I assume it has changed a fair bit since then. I stayed a night on the coast, wasn't a comfortable night, I must say. PS. Modern Pompii: Awful place. Slums, reminded me of the indian slums. - the ancient site is nice though (if you can get through to it alive)

I will be goign to venice in feb. I was wondering how is there English there? I have been to Rome 2 years ago and some people new english. I now its another country and they shouldn't have to know English, but curiouse on ordering food etc. also is there like flower people on the streets etc. In Rome they jwould come up to you and give you a flower, u think there being nice, but then you end up paying $10 euros for flowers you dont want to get rid of them, this time I know exactly what to do..

This is a lovely video of what a Venetian sees WITHOUT us horrible tourists - of which I am one. At least this video wasn't at all 'picture-postcardy' as would be the case if it was for the tourists. I agree with VeniceArtist @bapestajnv. And it's absolute heaven not having to worry about road traffic and the only traffic to hear is water-traffic. I am going to Sorrento next summer holidays with my mum,dad and brother, can't wait to go! Most of the hotels were nearly fully booked already for next august, we did manage to get the last 2 rooms avalible at the Hotel Bristol... we havent told my brother how hot it can be in august (he hates heat) but the rest of our family dosent like cold, thanks fr posting this :D
